Women's History Month 2019 - Nhadine, General Manager

We’re back again this week with another Women’s history month blog post. Today, we’re chatting with Nhadine.

My name is Nhadine Mascoll, I am the General Manager for London Central.

I joined CitySprint in September 2017 following an acquisition with Excel Couriers. I have worked for the London courier industry since 1995.

I initially began as what was then called a ‘Telephonist’. Back then it was a very male dominated environment with females largely sitting at the bottom end of the pay scale, my initial salary was £9k pa. My assertive personality found comfort in this industry, I went on to become a Super Controller, a Shift Team Leader, a Customer Service advisor, a Customer Service Manager, Head of Client Services and finally a General Manager.

I have been in my post as General Manager for one year. When I initially took on the role there were various new challenges in the market, particularly with the introduction of new food delivery businesses such as Just Eat and Deliveroo which meant that the talent pool for reliable couriers was slowly diminishing. This has meant that a big part of my role has been focused on retaining and attracting new couriers.

I was fortunate enough to have a team of both men and women who were not only experienced in their field but who understood some of the challenges we faced in doing this. The industry has seen many changes and I feel privileged to work among a team and a business who remain at the forefront of this.
Thank you team!

If I was asked to give one piece of advice it would be to stay true to who you are, if you need to change who you are to fit in then it’s probably not for you.
